There are nine different worlds in Asgard, and every 5,000 years, one of them aligns with Earth. During this alignment, portals are created between the worlds, which is called Convergence.
On Earth, Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster, thinks she and her team have found one of these portals, but when she does, she’s taken to another realm.
During her investigation, she comes into contact with something called the Aether, which causes her to be drawn back to Earth by Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth.
