1. A Virgin Among the Living Dead (1973)

The plot follows the protagonist, Christine, who departs from her London boarding school to her family’s Montserrat castle to attend the reading of a will from her father, Ernesto, whom she had never known and had recently attempted suicide.
Upon arrival, she lodges in an inn, where the proprietor informs her that no one resides in the castle. The following morning, the mute servant takes her to the castle, where she encounters her eccentric Uncle Howard, Abigail, Carmencé, and the blind girl, Linda.
It is then revealed that Herminia, the deceased father’s stepmother, is on the verge of death. When Hermínia visits Christine, she informs her that she must leave the castle before she dies.
As a result, Christine begins to form a connection between her dreams and nightmares, and, upon reading the will, inherits the castle. Inspector Chiao hand delivers what appears to be Porter’s last message to Bob, a handwritten letter addressed to him with the words “the five golden dragons”, which to Bob means nothing.
Bob eventually learns that the note was simply a request for assistance from Porter in the event of his demise and that the five Golden Dragons are a criminal syndicate that corners the gold market, each based in a different region of the world.
None of the five suspects the identity of the remaining four, and they are distrustful of one another, even though they have been trading with them for the past ten years.
